Here’s a greeting from the Judo twins Jacob and Marcus from Denmark who had written on our blog before. Here they take up the subject of motivation is an incredibly important key to success. Read some of their thoughts here.
Motivation is what keeps us all going, and in all kind of sport motivation is keen for your success, and if you don’t have the motivation to keep going, it is almost impossible to succeed. Here is what motivates me, and my brother going to stay in judo. We both like all the friendships, and all the fun we have on trips, camps and when we train. But we both like training judo, because when you’re done training your body is tired, but it still feels good.
So the training and the trips motivates us a lot, but the thing that motivates us the most, that’s our family. The reason for this is that they use so much time and money on us, that we feel that we have to keep going, or else all of their time and money will be wasted. So family support is one of the main things for our motivation.
To become good enough you have to say no to a lot of things, many say it’s the food, that’s difficult to say no to, but we think it’s all the friends you have outside the judo world. All the parties, all the get together with the friends that you have to say no to, because you have a training camp or a tournament. It’s really hard, because you want to spend time with them, but on the other hand you also want to become good, so that’s were your motivation needs to be high, so you can make the right decision. Some choose the friends, other choose their dreams, and our dreams is to become good, so we chose the dream. At first it’s hard, but for us it wasn’t so hard, because we always have each other to be with, and we keep each other’s motivation high.
It all gets really difficult when all of your friends start making money with their job, and you don’t have one because you don’t have the time for one, when your both in school and have your sport. But you need high motivation to stay in your sport, so you can reach your goal of becoming good.”
